EAU CLAIRE (WKOW)--An Eau Claire mom and boyfriend face child abuse charges after her 4-year-old son was found with broken bones, including 9 broken ribs and numerous bruises.

Detectives said Brian Peck, Jr. of Agusta first denied inflicting injuries but later admitted to squeezing the boy and throwing him against a couch as hard as he could.

Peck had been dating the boy's mother, Katie Boyea, for three weeks. She is charged with failing to act to protect a child. Investigators said family members told her to take the boy to a doctor, but she refused because she didn't want to be asked about the bruises. Boyea denied that.
