Heroin dealer arrested after man overdoses

Posted: Updated:

DUNKIRK (WKOW) -- A Stoughton man is arrested following a heron overdose on Independence Day.

Dane County Sheriff's deputies and Stoughton EMS were called to a home on Pleasant View Drive in the town of Dunkirk after a 25-year-old man was found unconscious inside.  Despite life-saving efforts, including Narcan, he was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Clear evidence of heroin use was discovered in the home, and investigators learned 26-year-old Robbert Knipfer, of Stoughton, was likely responsible for the supply that caused the death.

Knipfer was taken into custody Monday.  He's being held in the Dane County Jail on a probation hold.  Investigators are awaiting toxicology results and the Medical Examiner's report to determine any additional charges.
