MADISON (WKOW) -- Police say the suspect in a credit union robbery died hours after the crime.
Officers say 46-year-old Steven Conant robbed the Summit Credit Union on Thierer Rd. around 9 a.m. Monday.
Around 11:30 a.m. the same day, officers and paramedics responded to a medical distress call at Kelley's Market on Shopko Drive. Police say the call was for Conant. Life-saving efforts were performed on scene and Conant was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A police incident report says Conant's cause of death has not been determined, pending results of an autopsy and toxicology exam.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports heroin was found and police say the death may be drug-related.
