5-year-old child injured in apparent drunk driving crash in Sauk Co.

 BEAR CREEK (WKOW) -- A 5-year-old child from Plain, Wisconsin was transported to UW Hospital by Med Flight after a rollover crash.

According to the Sauk County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday on County Highway N near Dietl Road in the township of Bear Creek.

Officials say 30-year-old Jeffrey D. Shelton of Plain, Wisconsin lost control of his vehicle and it rolled over into a field.  Shelton did not have his seat belt on and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.  His passenger, 5-year-old Landon D. Shelton had to be transported by Med Flight for injuries.

Authorities say alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.  Shelton was charged with causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
