Dodge County cemeteries desecrated

Posted: Updated:

DODGE COUNTY (WKOW)--For the second time in a week, someone desecrated the graves of veterans at a Dodge County cemetery.

A thief stole thirty brass markers from the Stone Hill Cemetery in the Town of Burnett. The same thing happened at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam last weekend.

Some of the veterans buried at the Stone Hill Cemetery have been there since the War of 1812.

The Town’s Chairman, Tim Fletcher said he is devastated.

"Here they are memorialized in small shrine and someone has to come and damage that? It's just, it's not right," Fletcher said.

Between the two cemeteries, a total of 78 of the brass markers have been taken.

If you have any information, call the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, (920) 386-3726.
