Art Fair on the Square draws thousands downtown

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW)-- The annual Art Fair on the Square is underway downtown.

It features artists from around the country and is expected to bring roughly 200-thousand people downtown this weekend. This is the 56th year of the fair and it showcases nearly 500 different artists

The works of art range from paintings to sculptures to photographs. There are also local musicians providing entertainment around the square. There are artists from all over, but a large portion hail from right here in Wisconsin. One Madison-born shopper, David Waugh, says attending the 5 decade-old fair is a tradition.

“You definitely see some of the same artists and you get to know them and you get to make a connection with the artist which is nice,” Waugh said. “And yeah, there's always something new and unique.”

If you didn't make it to the fair Saturday, it runs Sunday for 10 am to 5 pm.
