Governor Scott Walker calls on the State Legislature to pass legislation to repeal Common Core

Posted: Updated:
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker is calling on the Wisconsin Legislature to pass a bill next year to repeal the Common Core educational standards.
Walker issued a one-line statement late Thursday that also said they should be replaced by standards "set by people in Wisconsin."
Walker, a potential presidential candidate in two years, joins some other prominent Republicans in calling for the standards to be spiked. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence was first to sign legislation revoking Common Core in April. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed executive orders blocking tests tied to the standards.
