MADISON (WKOW) -- A recent Madison College graduate calls Ukraine home.
Iryna Petruniak has been here in the U.S. for the past four years and has been following the developments there closely.
Whenever she see's something about Ukraine in the news, her first instinct is to call home.
"Maybe I like to hear their subjective opinion of it because you know my heart is with them and we are patriots. We love our country and whatever happens, we are kind of living it with everybody," said Petruniak.
Her family lives in western Ukraine, nearly 1,000 miles from the turmoil with Russia.
She says most Ukrainian are upset with the ongoing conflict, and they hope for a peaceful resolution soon.
