Tommy Thompson biking around state in name of cancer research

MADISON (WKOW) -- Former governor Tommy Thompson is biking across the state in the name of cancer research.

Thompson began with a 50-mile ride on Friday, raising money and awareness for pancreatic cancer.

Thompson says he lost two brothers and a good friend to the disease, and is looking to raise money for research during his three-weekend journey.

Thompson says, "It really has effected me personally and I'm really trying to help people understand the severity of pancreatic cancer, the need for research and the need to cure this."

Thompson says he will donate $1,000 to the Pancreatic Society in the name of the person who joins him on his bike-ride for the most miles.
