BELOIT (WKOW) -- Several people have been taken into custody after a report of an armed subject and a standoff in Beloit.

Beloit Police Captain Dan Risse says the incident started around 11:15 p.m. in the 900 block of 10th Street in the City of Beloit when officers were called for a report of an armed subject. When they got there, they found a man with a head wound. He was treated at Beloit Memorial Hospital and released.

Investigators say the man had argued with another man and three women earlier. The women left and returned with two more men. One man threatened with victim with a gun and struck him in the head. The suspects then ran away.

Around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Beloit Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was called in, as well as crisis negotiators.
