BELOIT (WKOW) --Beloit police say two men and two women are in custody after an armed robbery and standoff in the city.
Earlier, police said three women were involved, however, that third woman has been identified as a witness. Police say 21-year-old Erica Martin, of Roscoe, and 19-year-old Dakota Stevenson, of Beloit, were arrested for being party to the crime of armed robbery. The male subjects, 22-year-old Charreese Long and 19-year-old Arsheal Gill, both of Beloit, were arrested for armed robbery. Long was also taken in on a probation violation and Gill had a warrant for disorderly conduct. All four are being held in the Rock County Jail.
As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at an address in the 1900 block of McKinley. Officers seized a small amount of suspected illegal narcotics and a handgun.
The investigation continues.
BELOIT (WKOW) -- Several people have been taken into custody after a report of an armed subject and a standoff in Beloit.
Beloit Police Captain Dan Risse says the incident started around 11:15 p.m. in the 900 block of 10th Street in the City of Beloit when officers were called for a report of an armed subject. When they got there, they found a man with a head wound. He was treated at Beloit Memorial Hospital and released.
Investigators say the man had argued with another man and three women earlier. The women left and returned with two more men. One man threatened with victim with a gun and struck him in the head. The suspects then ran away.
The investigation led officers to an address in the 1900 block of McKinley Avenue. Officers tried to contact the subjects, but they refused to speak with police officers. Around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Beloit Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was called in, as well as crisis negotiators. All individuals in the residence were taken into custody around 7:30 a.m.
Capt. William Tyler says two men have been arrested in connection with the situation at the apartment complex on McKinley and for outstanding warrants. Our 27 News crew at the scene witnessed two women in handcuffs being taken from the scene as well. An infant was placed into child protective services.
McKinley Avenue is now open.
BELOIT (WKOW) -- Police activity in Beloit is causing road closures early Wednesday morning.
The Beloit Police Department is asking people to avoid the 1900 block of McKinley Ave. McKinley is closed from Burton to Newark. A 27 News crew on the scene says a SWAT team is there, along with the Beloit Police Department.
Rock County Communications tells 27 News police were called to the area of 10th Street for an armed subject around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, then authorities went to the area of McKinley. 27 News made calls to authorities overnight, but were not given any new information until Beloit Police sent out the alert about police activity around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. There's no confirmation whether the two incidents are connected.
