Green Bay-area village blocks sex offenders

Posted: Updated:
ALLOUEZ (WKOW) -- A village in the Green Bay metropolitan area is making it harder for registered sex offenders to move into the community.

According to Press-Gazette Media, the Allouez Village Board voted Tuesday to bar sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of any school, park, or other place where children gather.  Those places cover about 95% of the village/

Allouez residents and leaders have said more registered sex offenders are moving to the area when Green Bay rejects their residency requests.

Green Bay has had the tougher restrictions in place for years.  Allouez previously prohibited sex offenders from congregating at one residence or loitering near where children gather.

The village of Allouez's president hopes state lawmakers will consider the relocation issue.
