MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison Fire Department continues to monitor the scene of a fire at a 105-unit apartment building under construction on the east side that happened Friday night.

Madison Fire Department Division Chief Tim Mrowiec says a crew was at the location of the fire on the 500 block of Apollo Way overnight, and they'll continue to monitor the location of the blaze until further notice as materials continue to smolder.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Investigators continue to work with police, State Fire Marshal's Office investigators and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is a common practice at a large fire scene. Damages have not yet been determined.

Investigators ask that anyone with photos or videos taken of the blaze before the fire departments arrival call 608-266-4420 and leave a name, phone number, and email address so investigators can contact them. The fire department also plans to set up a website later Saturday where photos and videos can be uploaded.

A statement was released Saturday by the developers of the apartment building. Dan Schmidt, who is a managing member of FMI Development LLC, said they're thankful no one was injured and that they're grateful to the fire department.

"We are obviously disappointed that this has happened, but are thankful for the great support we have already received from our neighbors, elected officials Mayor Paul Soglin and Alder Lauren Cnare, vendors, and the community-at-large," Schmidt wrote. "We look forward to rebuilding in the near future."
