Man arrested on the roof of Chili's restaurant

Posted: Updated:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police were called to the East Towne Pet Clinic Monday afternoon for the report of theft.

An employee states someone came into the store and took money from the cash drawer.  When confronted, the subject returned all but a small amount of money and then fled.

A canine track was executed, but officers did not locate the suspect.  Around 6:00 p.m., a person matching the suspect's description was seen in the East Towne Mall area.  When officers approached, they were able to track him to the roof of the Chili's restaurant.  The suspect, 33-year-old Roy Mitchell, was arrested.

Madison Fire Department was then called to the scene, with a ladder truck, to assist in bringing Mitchell down safely.

Mitchell was charged with misdemeanor theft, resisting/obstructing and a probation hold.
