Officials say homeless man beaten and assaulted in Appleton
APPLETON (AP) - Wisconsin officials have charged two Florida men in connection to the beating and sexual assault of a homeless man in Outagamie County.
Appleton's Post-Crescent Media reports prosecutors on Tuesday charged 28-year-old Alexsander Mirkovich with substantial battery and party to first-degree sexual assault. They charged 48-year-old Anthony Gomez with first-degree sexual assault and party to substantial battery.
A 20-year-old man tells police he met the men at the Fox Valley Warming Shelter. Police say he suffered a broken nose and facial injuries when the men attacked him nearby.
Mirkovich tells police he and Gomez are a visiting couple. He says he didn't harm the man.
A court commissioner set $10,000 bond for both men and ordered them not to contact the victim or each other. Online jail records didn't indicate attorneys.
