World Dairy Expo Dairy Product Championships are underway

 MADISON (WKOW) -- The finest dairy products from across the country descend on Madison this week.

The 12th annual World Dairy Expo Dairy Product Championships are underway at Madison College.

On Tuesday, more than 400 cheeses and butters were taste-tested by a panel of 38 judges lucky judges.

Brad Legreid, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association says "The judges we utilize are all experts in their field. They come through the dairy judging teams back in college days, the companies they work for, they are the sensory experts at those companies. We only recruit the top judges in the united states for our contest."

Milk, yogurt and other dairy products will be judged on Wednesday, and 140 different samples of ice cream will be tested Thursday.

All the first place winners will be auctioned off at the World Dairy Expo on September 30th.
