Coming off record season, Badger volleyball tickets in high demand

MADISON (WKOW) -- Selling tickets hasn't been a problem for the Badger volleyball program in recent years. Wisconsin's been in the top-five in the country in ticket sales for 14 straight years. Though following a season where the Badgers finished national runners-up, tickets sales have spiked. In 2013 the Badgers sold 863 season ticket packages and as of last week that number was at 1,460.

"The community's embracing us, embracing this team and we're so thankful for it," Badgers head coach Kelly Sheffield said.
"Hopefully we're able to put a team out on the floor that plays hard, plays with passion, represents Madison really well and it's something they continue to be really proud of."

Saturday afternoon Wisconsin held a Fan Fest at the UW Fieldhouse, which was followed by an open practice. The event attracted an estimated 800 fans despite extremely humid conditions inside the facility.

"They're true sportsmen," Kathleen McCormick said, who has been a season ticket holder for five years now.

"They come out to play and win or lose they have the same attitude. They're out here to play and really give us a good show and I think it's some of the best value here on campus."

Wisconsin's regular season begins next Friday, August 29 in Minneapolis.
