Moral Week of Action focuses on women's rights on Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Since last week, a group has been rallying at the state Capitol every day for different social issues, and on Tuesday it was for women's rights.

The Forward Together Wisconsin coalition began its Moral Week of Action last Thursday, rallying for such issues as labor rights, education, and equal protection under the law. On Tuesday they celebrated Women's Equality Day. It's the anniversary of the day women got the right to vote back in 1920.

"It's an opportunity to talk about the issues, not only the issues from 1920 and at that time, and some sadly to say are still relevant today, but the issues were facing now, right now in our state and how we can get involved and do something about it," Martha Delarosa, the state director for 9 to 5 Wisconsin, said.

Moral Week of Action runs through Thursday with rally themes of health care on Wednesday and voting rights on Thursday.
