McEvoy remains quiet about QB situation, ready for LSU

MADISON (WKOW) -- It appears Wisconsin quarterback Tanner McEvoy was trained well. With reports out for days that McEvoy will get the start against LSU, Badgers head coach Gary Andersen refused to confirm the news Monday and a day later McEvoy followed suit.

"We're not sure who is playing upcoming this weekend," McEvoy said when asked about how different the offense would look with him under center.

"I hope I'm in. I mean that's a coach Lud [Andy Ludwig] answer, so whatever he wants us to do, I've got to be ready."

It has been quite the journey for McEvoy to get to this point. He started his college football career at South Carolina, only to transfer to Arizona Western where he played quarterback for a year. In 2012 he transferred to Wisconsin as a quarterback only to be moved to safety, but he's now back under center expected to start against LSU. Despite not playing a down at quarterback at the Division 1 level to this point, McEvoy remains confident.

"I just gotta go out there and play. If I get out there I gotta execute and do what the coaches say. It's practice but we're playing an opponent. I've been playing football all my life. I don't think it will be overwhelming or anything. It's fun, it's a big crowd, it's what i signed up for, it's a big school, that's why I came here."
