Fundraising event to benefit stabbing victim

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW)-- Hearts for Healing is an organization that is helping to raise money for the young Waukesha girl who was stabbed 19 times by her classmates in May.

Her assailants believed if they killed the girl they would meet a fictional character named the "Slender Man."

The young girls family is now facing mounting medical bills.

On Thursday, the family's spokesperson Steve Lyons and Tim Metcalfe of Metcalfe's Market stopped by Wake Up Wisconsin to talk about their upcoming fundraiser.

Lyons says the 12-year-old victim will return to school next week. Lyons says the family is thankful for the outpouring of love and support they have received from around the world.

If you would like to help out the family, the fundraising event, "Feed Your Heart Mini Brat Fest" is happening Friday, August 29 at the MetCalfe's Markets west side location by West Towne Mall.

The fundraiser runs 7:00am-6:00pm and volunteers are still needed to help with the event.

All proceeds will go to help the family with their mounting medical bills.
