MADISON (WKOW) -- People from the Madison area are going to New York ahead of Sunday's march for climate action.
The group boarded buses Saturday at the Madison Labor Temple. Local organizers say more than 200 people will join about 100-thousand others from across the country to participate in the People's Climate March in New York City.
It's a movement to get global leaders to take action on climate change.
"Just as we are part of this climate movement, we are also part of this global community of people who want to have a livable future for their children and grandchildren," says Laura Hanson-Schlachter, a co-coordinator with 350 Madison.
The march is happening just two days before President Obama and other world leaders are taking part in a climate summit at the United Nations.
