Young Madison Edgewood diver experiencing success

MADISON (WKOW) ---As she steps to the diving board, Ginger Lingard puts herself in a zone.
"When I first walk up there I just think solely on the dive and nothing else," Lingard said.
"When I walk on the board I think of each step as one thing. I've gotten used to the pressure and how you just gotta go and get it over with even though you're scared you just got to go for it."
This sport of solitude is one where Lingard has found success. At 15 years-old Lingard is a four-time All City Dive Champion. She's won a junior national championship, and last year as a freshman at Madison Edgewood she won a state title by 61 points.
"I'm really proud of it," Lingard said of her success.
"It makes me feel good about myself but I know I can still achieve greater things and I just gotta keep working hard at it."
Lingard's dedication to her craft is what's got her here.
Outside of practices with Edgewood, she travels on a weekly basis to Milwaukee to train with some of the best in the region.
"It takes a lot out of me. Of course it takes a lot out of my school work. It also takes out of my social life with my friends. I just want to achieve my goals and get as far as I possibly can with it."
If Lingard has limitations, she hasn't found them yet.
As she strives to achieve heights as high as the board will take her.
It's a very broad horizon, the opportunities are endless but I'm really excited to see what happens in the future," Madison Edgewood girl's diving coach Morgan Hearn said.
"I want to go to nationals and compete there and do the best I can for as long as I can," Lingard said.
"I just be myself and try best and if that goes well all is well."
