Kaminsky leads all scorers with 23 in annual Red-White scrimmage

MADISON (WKOW) -- It didn't feel much like a scrimmage, as 8,002 packed the Kohl Center for the Badgers annual Red-White scrimmage. It was the fans' first opportunity to see the Badgers in a game-like setting since the Final Four, and they showed their support for a team that enters the season #4 in the national coaches preseason poll.

Frank Kaminsky led all scorers with 23 points. Kaminsky headlined the red team which also featured Duje Dukan and Traevon Jackson.

Sophomore Nigel Hayes and freshman T.J. Schlundt both led the white team with 14 points. Sophomore Vitto Brown had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Both teams combined to shoot 15-29 from 3-point range, as eight different Badgers hit from three.

Down one point with 1.1 seconds left, the red team thought it had won the game after Dukan hit a three as the horn sounded, but upon further review it was determined the shot did not get off in time. In result, the white team prevailed 57-56.

Sam Dekker sat out of the scrimmage after suffering an ankle injury in practice on Friday. Dekker was able to move around the Kohl Center without crutches or a boot. Coach Bo Ryan would not provide an update on Dekker after the scrimmage.

The Badgers are next in action November 5 as they host UW-Parkside in their only exhibition game of the year.
