No. 3 Badgers women's hockey earns 8-2 win over Minnesota State

MADISON, Wis. – Thanks to a record-breaking night with hot shooting, the No. 3 Wisconsin women's hockey team defeated Minnesota State, 8-2, on Thursday at LaBahn Arena.

The Badgers (10-2-1, 8-2-1-0) set a new program high shots on goal in a single period with 32 shots on net in the first period.

Six different Badgers scored in the victory. Annie Pankowski led all scorers with three goals, earning her first career hat trick.

UW tallied 68 shots on goal, the second-most in program history, while Minnesota State (0-10-1, 0-8-1-0) collected 14.

Wisconsin scored three goals over in 3:41 seconds to give the Badgers a 3-1 lead over MSU after the first period.

Freshman Lauren Williams scored her first career goal with the Badgers to give UW a 1-0 lead

Ann-Renée Desbiens made 12 saves in net to earn her ninth win of the season.

Wisconsin and Minnesota State meet again on Friday in a 3 p.m. contest at LaBahn Arena.
