UW-Whitewater football to host NCAA first round Saturday against Macalester

WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The top-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team will host Macalester (Minn.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs this Saturday at Perkins Stadium, the NCAA announced Sunday during its selection show.

Kickoff of Saturday's contest is scheduled for 12 p.m. Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens, and can be purchased at the ticket window near the front entrance of the stadium starting at 10 a.m.

The Warhawks (10-0 overall), the nation's No. 1 team according to D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association, earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the postseason after winning their ninth conference championship in the last 10 years and 34th overall.

UW-Whitewater is the defending national champion and has won the Stagg Bowl title game in five of the last seven years. The team is making its 12th appearance in the NCAA Playoffs in program history.

Macalester (9-1) is making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Playoffs. The Scots won the Midwest Conference to earn an automatic bid to the national tournament.
