Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -

Gary Andersen has led the Badgers in to first place in the Big Ten West Division. That has earned him a spot as one of 20 semifinalists for the Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year Award.

The Badgers are 8-2 overall this season. They have a five-game winning streak after demolishing Nebraska. Wisconsin has the nation's top-ranked defense and rank second in the country in rushing.

Andersen has been a semifinalist for this award in both of his seasons in Madison. He is 17-6 with the Badgers, including an 11-3 mark in the Big Ten. That is the best start for a Badgers head coach through 14 conference games in the modern era.
