Badger volleyball earns share of Big Ten Title with win at Rutgers

 ROSEMONT, Ill. – The No. 2 Wisconsin volleyball team clinched at least a share of the Big Ten Championship with a 3-1 win over Rutgers on Wednesday. The Badgers claimed their first Big Ten title since 2001 and fifth overall, also finishing first in 1990, 1997 and 2000. At 18-1 in conference play, Wisconsin can clinch the outright Big Ten title with a win over No. 19 Purdue on Friday.

The Badgers fell in the first set (22-25), but won the next three (25-13, 25-11, 25-13) to win their school record 18th straight conference match. Courtney Thomas led Wisconsin with 21 kills, while Taylor Morey notched 17 digs and Haleigh Nelson added six blocks to lead the team.

The 2014 Big Ten volleyball season concludes on Saturday, with the 2014 NCAA Championship field set to be announced on Sunday. The 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship selection show is scheduled to air at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU on Sunday.
