Volleyball Badgers outlast Buckeyes in five-set thriller in NCAA Louisville Regional

 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 4-seeded Wisconsin volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to dispatch Ohio State in a five-set match in the semifinals of the 2014 NCAA Louisville Regional. UW defeated OSU 25-20, 21-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-12.

Senior Courtney Thomas tallied 13 kills to lead UW, while freshman Kelli Bates and senior Ellen Chapman each tallied 12 putaways. Lauren Carlini earned her 17th double-double of the year with 43 kills and 17 saves. Taylor Morey recorded 21 digs, while Bates added 17 digs.

Wisconsin outblocked Ohio State 18.5-16, and had 8.5 blocks in the fourth set. Senior Dominique Thompson had a career-high 11 blocks.

UW hit .130 (52 kills, 28 errors, 184 attempts), while OSU hit .128 (64 kills, 40 errors, 188 attempts) in the match.

UW earned its second five-set win of the year, and its first five-set win in the NCAA tournament since Dec. 9, 2005 against Notre Dame.

The Badgers move on to the regional final to face the winner of UCLA/Penn State in a 3 p.m. (CT) match on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center.
