What do to if you can't afford everything your kids ask for for Christmas
MADISON (WKOW) -- Just a few more shopping days left to get those items on your kid's Christmas list.
But what if you can't afford everything they're asking for?
Child development experts say more gifts don't mean more love.
An important thing to remember is that kids base their expectations on what they hear from their parents.
So if you can only afford one gift, tell your kids to expect one special gift.
And remember, it's not always about the present under the tree.
Bronwyn Fees, a Kansas State University Child Development Expert says, "Quite a bit of research would support it's going to be the time that you spend with your child, engaged in the materials and gifts they do receive that's going to be the lasting memory that holiday season. So the gift you can give your child that will probably be most meaningful is your time."
