Walker: Romney not best GOP candidate in 2016

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker was asked Thursday about Mitt Romney's interest in running in 2016.

He ways the best way for Republicans to counter the arguments of possible democratic nominee Hilary Clinton is to have a fresh face and that's not Romney.

"I think Mitt's a good man and I think he would have been a good president, but I think particularly when you look at how things shape up in two years. I think it's pretty hard to make an argument going forward when you're arguing about people and ideas from the past," said Walker.

Romney is beginning to assemble a campaign team for another presidential bid. Colin Reed, who most recently served as former U.S. Senator Scott Brown's campaign manager will begin to work for Romney immediately on a volunteer basis.

Romney is expected to address members of the republican national committee Friday. It will be his first public comments since news broke that he was serious about running.
