Bullis introduced as Warhawks head coach

WHITEWATER, Wis. (WKOW) -- The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater officially introduced its new head football coach Wednesday. Kevin Bullis takes over the storied Warhawks program after the departure of Lance Leipold to the University of Buffalo in December.

Bullis worked as an assistant under Leipold for the last seven years.

The Warhawks won five national championships in that span. Leipold became the fastest coach in all of college football to reach 100 wins in 2014.

Bullis knows the expectations of the program.

"To me, the most important thing is continuing our respect for the traditions we have here and the systems we have here," said Bullis. "Lance [Leipold] is a close friend, and he would tell you it's not about filling shoes, and anyone who looks at it as filling shoes, you're putting undue pressure, not realistic pressure upon yourself."

The former defensive assistant is excited about his future as the leader of the Hawks.

"I have no reason to leave here," Bullis said. "Whitewater is a great town, we have great support from our administration. I plan on retiring here, to be quite candid. You never know how life changes, but we have no reason to want to leave here."
