ABC's David Muir talks to 27 News about 20/20 'Slender Man' report
MADISON (WKOW) -- ABC's 20/20 Friday featured a special report on a Wisconsin case.
Anchor David Muir revealed police interrogation video of the suspects in the 'Slender Man' stabbing in Waukesha.
In their own words, the two teenage girls, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, talked about their plot to try to kill their friend, Peyton Leutner, to please the fictional character and, they say, keep their own families safe.
27 News spoke with Muir about the 6 hours of interrogation video he combed over with his team.
"What's most stunning, is the matter of fact nature in which they describe the planning of this, the execution of this in the woods," He says. "The dynamic between these two girls changes, it evolves over the course of this plan."
Investigators say they found notebooks in one suspect's bedroom, with images depicting death and 'Slender Man' and the warning signs that might have been overlooked.
"It's impossible, though, for parents to know everything that their child is looking at online and I think that's the real frustration and I think that's what so many parents are frightened about," says Muir. "These parents knew each other, they had sleepovers. One of the girls was Peyton's best friend since fourth grade. There's a lot to learn from this case and it's not all black and white."

Geyser and Weier face charges of attempted intentional homicide.
A judge is expected to rule March 13 whether the trial will move forward in adult court.
