Massive Thursday snow storm

MADISON (WKOW) --This morning on Wake Up Wisconsin we took a look at the massive snow storm that caused major issues. This storm stretched from Texas, across the south, and up to the east coast.

First we looked at Winchester, VA. They aren't used to seeing this much snow. The snow fell quickly here leaving roads nearly impossible to drive on. One highway was closed leaving drivers stranded for several hours. Next we looked at Washington D.C. where residents were making the best of a snow day. A massive, but friendly snowball fight broke out in town. Then in parts of New Jersey, residents were just fed up with all the snow. The heavy snow kept plows busy and businesses closed.

One of the hardest hit areas was in central Kentucky. Nearly 2 feet of snow fell in some areas, and it caused some big problems. I-65 was shut down for 20 hours leaving drivers stranded. The National Guard was called in to help. Drivers were helped from their cars and taken to Red Cross shelters until the highway finally reopened.
