An emotionally fueled Madison East squad wins regional final
MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison East boys basketball team won its regional final game 56-53 over Middleton Tuesday night. The game was postponed from last Saturday after the officer involved shooting on Madison's east side. Players, coaches and fans inside the gymnasium at East wore black t-shirts with the words "Black Lives Matter" spelled across the front. After the victory, students stormed the court to join the East players, while chanting "Tony Robinson," the name of the 19-year old teenager who was shot Friday night.
Madison East senior D'Angelo Millan said his team's victory was in honor of Robinson.
"We've got friends and close family members in this whole gym who was really deeply hurt by what happened and that game out there today was for him," Millan said.
Madison East moves on to face Verona on Thursday in Sun Prairie.
