MADISON (WKOW) -- The Mt. Horeb boys basketball team wins the school's first ever basketball state title with its 58-46 win over Rice Lake Saturday at the Kohl Center. The Vikings were led by junior Max Meylor, who followed up a strong semifinal with 21 points in the championship. Terek Nesheim added 14. Rice Lake was playing without its star player Henry Ellenson, who broke his hand in his team's semifinal game. Mt. Horeb took advantage of Ellenson's absence outscoring Rice Lake 40-14 in the paint. This was Mt. Horeb's first appearance in the state tournament since 1941.
