NEWARK TOWNSHIP (WKOW) -- A Rock County man is arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, child porn and drugs.

Wednesday, the Rock County Sheriff's Office got a complaint about the home at 12445 West Highway 81 in Newark Township. They executed a search warrant the next day. The sheriff says the man who lives there, David G. Wenzel, 57, is a registered sex offender previously convicted of sexual assault in 1997.

During the search, deputies say they immediately found evidence of drug use. Wenzel, who was home at the time, began complaining of heart-related problems. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

During that time, deputies finished searching his property. They say they found items in the home that indicated Wenzel was sexually interested in young children. Detectives also found a concealed camera in his bathroom and numerous VCR tapes. One of the tapes contained footage of an adult female drying off after using the shower. Detectives say it appears she was not aware of the camera from the bathroom.

The sheriff's office seized between 50 and 75 VCR tapes, several DVDs and other items. One of the DVDs contained video of a sexual assault to a child.

Wenzel was arrested on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child (Manufacturing Child Pornography), Possession of Child Pornography, Representations Depicting Nudity, Possession of THC, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. More counts may be added as detectives finish looking through all the evidence.

Wenzel is scheduled for court date on March 30 at 3:00 p.m.
