Traevon Jackson taking in magical tournament moments with father

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WKOW) -- It's a rare occasion for Traevon Jackson here at the Final Four, the opportunity to share his successes with his father in attendance. Jim Jackson is an analyst for the Big Ten Network and spends much of the college basketball season on the road, but this week Jim is in Indy, able to watch his son in person.

"It's real. I've been telling him since the summertime we will be here since the summertime and he's seeing it," Traevon said.

"You always want your child, I don't care what it is they do, to be able to feel and reach their dream whatever it is and for him to be able to be a part of a special group of guys like this and they all achieved what they were looking for, it's special," Jim Jackson said.

Playing the same sport as his father, Traevon's always had a lot to live up to. Jim Jackson was a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year in the 1990s at Ohio State, but at Wisconsin Traevon has achieved levels of success that his father was never able to reach.

"He already got me twice. I've never been to a Final Four. Not only can he say, Dad I've been there once, but I've been there twice and I've been to the championship game. You haven't been there, Jim Jackson said.

"Got one more game to go, it's not over. The goal was built around not only getting to the championship game, but winning so we've still got to keep that in mind."

Wisconsin faces Duke for the national championship Monday night at 8:18 pm CT.
