MADISON (WKOW) -

Badgers forward Morgan Zulinick has informed head coach Mike Eaves that he plans to leave school at the end of the spring semester to return closer to his family and 3-year-old son.

"We were having our year-end meetings and Morgan's meeting was this morning at 9 a.m., the first one of the day," Eaves said in a statement. "He came in, sat down and shared his decision to return home to be a full-time dad."

Zulinick was the third-leading scorer on the Badgers this season with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. He played 78 career games at Wisconsin.

"I've decided after three years at Wisconsin, my heart is back home with my family and my son, Noah. I've found my desire to be back home with Noah outweighs my desire to continue on playing hockey. I think I really need this."

Zulinick plans to finish the semester before moving back to Canada.
