(WKOW) -- Heading to a home and garden show can be a big help if you're excited about getting your new, small garden underway, but only if you go prepared. We've got you covered with what you need to know in our Angie's List report.
A trip to the home and garden show is a great way to meet with a variety of contractors to find out who's qualified to do the job and with whom you feel most comfortable. Look for a contractor who not only understands your project, but also shares your vision. It will help to bring as much information as possible, including budget, space measurements time requirements and photos.
Don't be intimidated by the massive, expensive exhibits you see at the show because landscape architects explain, projects like that can be done over years if your budget can't handle it all at once. However there are ways to plan ahead for the price tag.
"To get the best estimate, you'll want to have as many details with you as possible. So, for example, if you're thinking about remodeling your bathroom, putting a new shower in, be sure you have the specific measurements. And know what kind of material you want to you, so you that you can get the best estimate," says Angie Hicks.
Many contractors at these shows are familiar and friendly with one another, so if you want something that they don't specialize in, they will often send you to the right company just across the aisle.
