Bucks return to respectability with surprise playoff trip

MILWAUKEE (AP) -

A return to the postseason for the Milwaukee Bucks has exceeded the expectations of the team's new owners.

It's just as noteworthy for the personnel changes endured by the Bucks this year.

The team lost rookie forward Jabari Parker to injury in December. Center Larry Sanders was waived in February, following a suspension for violating the NBA's drug policy.

Brandon Knight was traded away in February, when Michael Carter-Williams arrived from Philadelphia to take over the point.

The young Bucks have weathered the changes. Coach Jason Kidd relies on a defense-first philosophy and deep rotation.

Co-owner Jamie Dinan says the initial goal of the bosses was to exceed 30 victories a year after a franchise-worst 15-win season.

Milwaukee opens the first round of the playoffs at Chicago on Saturday.
