MADISON (AP) -

Paul Chryst returns to the Wisconsin sideline as head coach when the Badgers hold their spring scrimmage on Saturday.

Chryst was hired in December after Gary Andersen left after two seasons to take the same job at Oregon State. A former Wisconsin offensive coordinator, Chryst came back to Camp Randall Stadium following a three-year stint at Pittsburgh.

The return adds a new element to what is usually a glorified spring practice session.

It's the first peek for Badgers fans about what Wisconsin might look like in the fall, even if the top players might see minimal action and play-calling is vanilla.

Linebacker Vince Biegel says players hoped to impress the new boss this spring and work on any weaknesses. The regular season opener Sept. 5 against Alabama.
