MADISON (WKOW) -

The Madison Capitols added four players with local ties in this year's USHL Draft, including first-round pick Mick Messner from Madison West High School.

The Capitols began Phase One of the draft by selecting Messner with the fifth overall selection. The University of Wisconsin recruit scored 33 goals over the past two seasons with the Regents.

The Capitols also added three players from their youth program. In the 10th round, they selected Branden Suter from the Madison Capitols AAA program. He is the cousin of Capitols owner and Minnesota Wild star Ryan Suter. During Phase Two, the Capitols drafted two more players from the Capitols youth program in Matt Jones and Konur Peterson.

The Capitols also selected Simon and TJ Sagissor out of Stillwater, Minnesota. The Sagissors brothers are the sons of former Wisconsin hockey standout and current Capitols owner Tom Sagissor.
