MADISON (WKOW) -

After some twists and turns, Tony Butler's baseball journey led him home. The former Sun Prairie standout is posting a very good season at Madison College.

Butler began his collegiate career at Virginia. He decided to transfer after playing in just nine games as a freshman. Madison College, which has sent 26 players to the NCAA Division 1 ranks in the past five seasons, seemed like an obvious fit.

"Yeah. It's been different. I never really expected to be transferring or anything like that, but it happened. We're just going to go with the flow here."

Back on the field on a regular basis, Butler has found his groove. The infielder is hitting .371 with 27 RBI as the WolfPack begin postseason play this weekend with an eye on a sixth straight trip to the NJCAA World Series.

"It's been a great year. I love these guys. I'm real excited to play some playoff baseball here with them. There's a lot of competitive teams. It's going to be fun. This year has been a great learning experience. I learned a lot from Coach 'D' and the coaches here. Very excited to finish it off strong."

Butler is hoping to lead the WolfPack to their first World Series championship since 1997. Then, it's time for the next stop in his journey. Butler has committed to play next season at Indiana.
