JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The suspect in a Janesville homicide has changed his plea from not guilty to guilty, according to a report in the Janesville Gazette.

The newspaper says Clayton Courtney entered the guilty plea Tuesday in the murder of Britney Cross. Court records show Courtney was scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. status conference in Rock County court.

27 News reported last year the body of Cross, Courtney's girlfriend, was found near the Rock River on May 5, 2014. At the time, police said several items belonging to Courtney were found at the scene and blood found on Courtney's pants matched Cross' DNA.

Authorities charged Courtney with 1st degree intentional homicide. He previously pleaded not guilty in August 2014.
