Local golfers in contention at WIAA meet

 Several local golfers and teams are in contention after the first day of action of the WIAA Boys Golf Championship Meet at University Ridge Golf Course.

The top local team after the opening round is Lodi. The Blue Devils are dominating the leaderboard in Division 2. Adam Miller is leading at -1. His teammate, Jacob Michel, is second at even par. Lodi has four golfers in the top ten. They lead the team standings by 23 strokes over Edgewood.

Lancaster is hanging around in Division 3. They are ten shots behind St. Mary's Springs Academy. Nathan Farrey is leading Lancaster with a +7. He is tied for fourth. Mineral Point's Taylor Ryman is leading the Division 3 field at +3.

Middleton posted the best local score in Division 1. The Cardinals are in third place. They are 14 shots behind Arrowhead. Max Murphy from Waunakee was the top local performer at +3. He is four shots off the lead.

The final round will be played Tuesday at University Ridge.
