Senate approves Grebe appointment to UW Board of Regents
MADISON (WKOW) -- The Wisconsin Senate voted on Tuesday to confirm Michael M. Grebe's appointment to the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents, after Senate Democrats voiced their concern about Grebe's connection to Governor Scott Walker, the man who nominated him for the regent post.
Grebe is the son of Mike W. Grebe, chairman of Walker's gubernatorial campaigns and the conservative Bradley Foundation.
A woman in the gallery was removed from the Senate chamber after she yelled that the Senate's approval of Grebe was "an outrage."
Before the vote, Democrats argued Grebe was unqualified for the position and was chosen because of his connection to Walker.
All 19 Republicans voted to confirm the appointment, while all 14 Democrats voted against it.
