Mike McCarthy holds 6th annual McCarthy Golf Invitational in Oregon

OREGON (WKOW) -- Packers head coach Mike McCarthy held his sixth annual Mike and Jessica McCarthy Golf Invitational on Monday at the Legend at Bergamont Golf Course in Oregon. The event benefits the American Family Children's hospital and has raised more than $1.2 million dollars over the previous five years.

"I think it's a personal responsibility when you have the opportunity to give back, pay forward. I've been very blessed, my wife and I feel really good about what our family's trying to build and trying to give to the hospital," McCarthy said.

The event comes one day before the Packers report to mandatory mini-camp in Green Bay. Even with the camp being "mandatory," there are several players around the league who choose not to show up to their respective camps for various reasons, generally involving a contract dispute. This never seems to be a problem the Packers have to deal with.

"If you look at the participation from '06 to, I want to say '08 or '09, we've been pretty much 100 % [attendance] since '08 and that's a big part of our success. The ability to do as much as we do and that's really a product of our players' commitment to the offseason program," McCarthy said.

Mandatory minicamp goes from June 16-18.
