Family of murdered woman gives back to officers who investigated crime

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) -- The family of a Columbia County woman who authorities say was killed by her boyfriend is giving back to the officers who helped investigate her case.

With an online fundraising page, Traci Rataczak's family raised more than $2,000 for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office K9 unit. They presented the donation to staff members at a golf outing fundraiser in Columbus on Saturday, where they in turn got a plaque in Rataczak's name.

The family says they can't describe the appreciation they have for those involved in the investigation and are still praying for justice.

Officials say Rataczak's boyfriend, Patrick Kraemer, staged her death to look like a suicide in 2013. A heart monitor she was wearing helped authorities determine he had been lying and he was arrested more than a year later.

Kraemer now faces a homicide charge in Rataczak's death. The case has yet to conclude.
