Top recruit Luke Opilka arrived at Wisconsin in June and enrolled in classes but will never suit up for the Badgers hockey team. Head coach Mike Eaves announced the freshman goaltender has decided to forgo his collegiate career.

"Luke had an opportunity to turn pro and pursue his dream and decided that the window of opportunity was now. We want to wish him luck in his pursuit of his dreams."

Opilka was recently drafted in the fifth round by his hometown St. Louis Blues. He is expected to play for the OHL's Kitchener Rangers this season. Opilka starred for the U.S. Under-18 Team. He went 25-7-0 with a 2.77 goals-against average and three shutouts.
