Columbus officials see light at end of clean-up tunnel

(Columbus, WI   WKOW)  --  Officials say a few clean-up activities will still be taking place over the weekend and into early next week after this past week's heavy storms in the area.

The Columbus Recycling Center will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept trees and brush. Also, if you need to  dispose of expired food items that weren’t picked-up by garbage collection, you can drop them off at the center in a separate dumpster that's provided there.

Then on Monday, the Department of Public Works will have help from a handful of other municipalities to continue cleanup of downed trees, branches and debris.  Residents who work on their own downed trees and limbs are encouraged to bring the material to the front of their yards and tree borders for crews to collect.

City leaders also ask that you continue to refer to the Columbus City website for the latest updates. Find more information at  .
