MADISON (WKOW) -- One of Madison's most popular summer destinations is getting a makeover.
Expansion of the Terrace is the next phase of renovations at UW Memorial Union. Part of the project includes making the Terrace fully handicap accessible.
They will also be adding more seating and larger stage area for live entertainment.
"Well for the union it's really about investing in one of campus' historic icons, and that's Memorial Union and Union Terrace," said Mark Guthier, Director of the Wisconsin Union. "And presenting it for future generations of students and help alumni really have a place to come back to."
Construction on the east portion of the Terrace will begin on September 1.
